Fall season heralds a lot of change, including the wonderfully therapeutic process of doing up our homes for the holiday season. Sadly, one of the things that the pandemic has robbed from us is the ability to saunter through flea markets, browse thrift stores for unique finds, and step into dusty antique stores sans masks. But don’t despair. I don’t know if you’re aware, but there’s a marketplace called Etsy that will help you;) Hehe, I’m serious, though: Etsy shops for home decor are perfect for browsing on a lazy Fall afternoon, when you’re all tucked into bed with a mug of coffee.
The Benefits of Shopping at Etsy
The good thing about Etsy is that it showcases a lot of small businesses, independent artisans, and vintage items in particular. It’s a great platform to support independent sellers, especially those who specialize in vintage and secondhand items. Granted, it isn’t the same as physically visiting thrift stores and quirky little boutiques, but it scratches the fall decor shopping itch, while also supporting small businesses.
Plus, Etsy has pledged to offset 100% of carbon emissions from all the shipping they do. For any carbon emissions released into the atmosphere as a result of shipping items on Etsy, Etsy invests in projects that reduce carbon emissions by the same amount. Awesome! It’s far from what needs to be done, of course, but it’s great that they’re doing this.
