Ethical jewelry pieces are hard to come by. First of all, they don’t usually have a sticker saying ‘ethical jewelry’, and, secondly, not many people who buy jewelry are even aware of the ethical aspects of the piece they’re looking at. Ask them, and they’ll probably go, “WHAT. Ethics and jewelry?!”

But, as we mentioned in the previous post on ethical jewelry, the term ethical jewelry refers to many aspects of the manufacture and sale of the jewelry items. Was this item sustainably sourced? Were the people involved in the making of this item fairly compensated for their work and skills? Did the sale of this item help contribute towards conflicts in various parts of the world? The other term used in the same context is ‘fairtrade jewelry.’
We saw that diamonds, even those certified by the Kimberly Process, are usually not conflict-free or ethically sourced. Gold has contributed to the stripping of forests that are ‘in the way’ of mining areas. And these two are the most commonly looked for parts of any ‘precious’ piece of jewelry.
Is there any other option?
Obviously, yes:) We scoured through Etsy, and compiled a list of 20 handpicked (by us!) ethical jewelry pieces that you will love, and wear without a blot on your conscience. Enjoy!

I am sure there is more than enough jewellery in the world that we never need to make new pieces from virgin materials and with talented people like you showcase here you still get fabulous “new” items from ols unwanted ones.
Yes, exactly! And after knowing the cost that these virgin materials extract on people and the environment, it becomes the most sensible thing to do.
Thanks for stopping by!:)
